4. Why should I learn about fractions?

This is a valid and important question that most teachers don’t ever consider.  You should ask this question about every topic being taught.  Why should I learn about trigonometry?  Or Shakespeare?  Or sign language?  Until students (children or adults) see a personal need for learning the topic, it becomes just another boring burden to be endured until it can be dumped.

Fractions were invented as a way of sharing things fairly.

This website presents extracts of each chapter in the related book called Fractions For Parents. The chapters are listed on the side of this page.
