When introducing any new concept, try to explain it in terms of what is already understood. Quite simply, a fraction is a piece of something else. This explanation uses only words that your child already understands. But don’t rely only on words. Show it practically. Break a bar of chocolate into pieces. Each piece is a fraction of the chocolate bar.
